Patrick Mahomes' Kansas City Chiefs have a chance to become the first team to win three Super Bowls in a row, having won the previous two and advancing to the AFC Championship game against the Buffalo Bills this weekend.

If Mahomes wins his fourth overall Super Bowl, it would certainly climb him up the ladder of being the greatest quarterback of all time.

Speaking on Thursday morning "First Take," analyst Stephen A. Smith said that if Mahomes can become the first quarterback in NFL history to pull off a three-peat, he would surpass Tom Brady as the greatest quarterback of all time.

"Tom Brady didn't even win back-to-back-to-back Super Bowl titles," Smith said. "It would be huge for the sport. It would be huge for the city. It would be huge for the franchise. It would cement Patrick Mahomes as the greatest QB in history of the National Football League."

Could it be premature to dub Mahomes as the G.O.A.T. if he does pull off a three-peat? Maybe so. But it would certainly argue his case more for being mentioned in the same sentence as Brady for the greatest of all time.

In 112 career games played, Mahomes has thrown for 32,352 yards, 245 touchdowns, 74 interceptions and has completed 66.6 percent of passes.

Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs will have to get past Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills to reach the Super Bowl

If Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs want a chance of three-peating as Super Bowl champions, they will have to avenge one of their only two losses from the season this Sunday.

The Chiefs suffered their first loss of the season on Nov. 17 when the Buffalo Bills handed them a 30-21 loss. Bills QB Josh Allen gave them a nine-point lead with 2:17 left in the game off of a 26-yard touchdown run.

This Sunday's AFC Championship game played at Arrowhead Stadium will be the fourth time that Mahomes and Allen square off in the playoffs. Mahomes has won each of the three previous matchups.

As of right now, the Chiefs are one-point favorites according to ESPN.com. If this Sunday's playoff matchup is like the previous two between these AFC teams, then NFL fans will be in for another classic.
