"Stupid refs": Jets fans outraged at officials calling off Breece Hall's touchdown

New York Jets fans had much to be excited about in the first half of their Thursday Night Football Game against the New England Patriots at MetLife Stadium. Their defense gave up only 12 yards on their opponents' first two drives, while Aaron Rodgers and the offense embarked on a touchdown drive and closed in on another early in the second quarter.

They drove the ball 97 yards and were on the doorstep of taking a 14-0 lead when they faced a 3rd-and-goal. They opted to run the ball but the Patriots' defensive line did a stellar job breaking through the Jets' offensive line. However, running back Breece Hall escaped multiple tackle attempts and spun into the endzone.

While it initially looked like he had broken the plane, the referees ruled he was short of the goal line. Replays quickly clarified that they had gotten the decision wrong, prompting head coach Robert Saleh to throw the red challenge flag. The decision was overturned within seconds and the Jets were awarded the touchdown.

Jets fans on social media weren't too pleased about the referees missing a rather easy call and criticized them on X:
