Super Bowl-winning HC Tony Dungy likens $21,806,014 Eagles DT to Rams icon Aaron Donald

Former Indianapolis Colts coach Tony Dungy is a big fan of Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Jalen Carter.

Dungy compared Carter to former Super Bowl champion Aaron Donald, saying they have a similar playing style and impact on the game.

“[Jalen Carter] sets the tone for that defense, and when you have a disruptive force in the middle like that, that everybody has to account for. It’s kind of like an Aaron Donald, or John Randle, who I had in Minnesota, or [Warren] Sapp," Dungy said on 97.5 The Fanatic.

"Where you know how people are going to block because they have to double team him, which means everybody else is getting singled. Now you can take advantage of that with your other guys, with your blitz schemes. It’s huge.”

The Eagles drafted Jalen Carter in 2023. He signed a $21,806,014 contract (per Spotrac) and has established himself as a key figure on the defensive line.

Carter started 15 of the 16 games for the Eagles this season, registering 42 total tackles - 25 solo and 17 assisted.

With a 14-3 record, the Eagles lead the NFC East. They have won five of their previous six games, capping off the regular season with a 20–13 victory over the New York Giants on Sunday.

The Eagles are positioned as one of the prime candidates to win the Super Bowl. According to Bet MGM, they are +700 (fifth best) to go all the way.

However, there are some concerns in the Philadelphia Eagles locker room over starting quarterback Jalen Hurts's possible absence from the Wild Card game against the Green Bay Packers since he is still in concussion protocol.
