Teddy Bridgewater Dolphins contract: How much did former Broncos QB earn in Miami?

Miami Dolphins v New England Patriots
Teddy Bridgewater of Miami Dolphins

Teddy Bridgewater is a quarterback who has played for six teams in nine seasons. He has demonstrated maturity, confidence and leadership as a starting QB, along with an eagerness to hold out for unexpected opportunities as an effective backup.

The key element in his game is to play well and get paid, regardless of whether he's designated as a starter or backup. Bridgewater, whom the Minnesota Vikings selected as the 32nd overall choice in the 2014 NFL draft, showed at the start of his career that he had what it took to succeed as a starting QB.

He started the year as the backup quarterback. With a 6-7 record in his first season, Bridgewater quickly established himself as the starting quarterback. Along with the 209 additional yards and a score he gained running, he concluded his first season with 2,919 passing yards, 14 TDs, 12 INTs and an 85.2 quarterback rating.

Bridgewater has demonstrated his ability to function effectively on the gridiron after a horrific injury to his knee, earning fully guaranteed agreements. He committed to a one-year, $6,500,000 deal with the Miami Dolphins in 2022. The deal featured a $2,000,000 signing bonus, $6,500,000 in guaranteed money and an average annual salary of $6,500,000.

Only Case Keenum and Nick Foles had higher cap hits for QB2 in the NFL last season than Bridgewater, who has earned up to $62,059,985 in nearly a decade in the league.

Where will Teddy Bridgewater play in 2023?

Teddy Bridgewater has played for four teams in the last four years and is now searching for his fifth.

According to ESPN on Saturday, several teams have expressed interest in Bridgewater, notably the Detroit Lions, who made a contract proposal for the 30-year-old. Bridgewater appears to have different possibilities, so he's going to take his time to decide where he will play next.

With the Lions, Teddy Bridgewater will recognize some names. He collaborated with coach Dan Campbell at the New Orleans Saints, where Campbell served as the assistant head coach and tight ends coordinator. Bridgewater would serve as Jared Goff's understudy if he signs with the Lions.

Bridgewater might find that to be a wonderful opportunity where he could earn a respectable salary and step in as required in a squad that appears to be progressing.

With the Miami Dolphins last season, Bridgewater struggled with injury, completing four passes that resulted in touchdowns and making four interceptions. However, he has demonstrated in the NFL that he can win games when teamed with a solid defensive unit.
