Tee Higgins' mom gives verdict on Patrick Mahomes' falling TD pass against Texans - "It wasn't better than Joe Burrow's"

Patrick Mahomes' tricks were on full display during Saturday's Divisional Round games. The Kansas City Chiefs started their playoff run with a 23-14 win against the Houston Texans, but the game was closer than the score indicated.

For most of the game, the Chiefs struggled to contain the Texans' strong pass rush, which gave their quarterback plenty of trouble. But Mahomes was unfazed even after taking some hits. The highlight play of the game was a touchdown pass thrown by the quarterback while he fell to the ground:

The touchdown play gathered plenty of reactions on X, with NFL fans and analysts impressed with the play pulled out by Mahomes.

However, Joe Burrow got himself a defense: the mom of wide receiver Tee Higgins, Burrow's teammate at the Cincinnati Bengals, came to the defense of her son's teammate, remembering fans that Burrow had also thrown a touchdown pass while falling during the regular season:

"It wasn't better than Joe's"

The play happened in Week 16, when the Bengals desperately needed a win to stay alive in the playoff hunt. Even though Cincinnati had won all its games from Week 14 to Week 18, it was unable to grab the final playoff spot, which went to the Denver Broncos instead.

Patrick Mahomes, Joe Burrow and Tee Higgins have had two epic playoff games in recent years

The Bengals missed the playoffs in the previous two years but were one of the teams that gave the most trouble to the Chiefs.

The two teams met in the AFC Championship Game in 2021 and 2022, with each taking home a Super Bowl berth. In 2021, a strong 21-3 comeback from Cincinnati fueled their overtime win, with Joe Burrow becoming the second quarterback to defeat Mahomes in a playoff game. Eventually, they lost Super Bowl LVI to the Los Angeles Rams, though.

A year later, a rematch to decide who would represent the AFC in Super Bowl LVII. In another close game, the Chiefs exacted revenge to move to the championship game, where they beat the Philadelphia Eagles to win their second ring in four years.
