Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins is set to become a free agent this offseason, and he will likely continue the trend of becoming the next wide receiver to get a lucrative contract after his current one-year, $21,816,000 deal ends.

Higgins would have likely become a top-10, top-five highest-paid wide receiver in the NFL last offseason, had the Bengals not used the franchise tag on him. Higgins and the Bengals did not reach an agreement on an extension and had to go that route.

Higgins recently spoke about his future with the Bengals ahead of their last regular-season game of the year. He said he was going to enjoy life and his family and put the decision in God's hands. He got a nice response from his mother on X, showing her support with a short five-word message:

"Keep Trusting The Process Son #Godspeed"

Higgins was drafted in the second round of the 2020 NFL draft and has been a consistent No. 2 wide receiver for the Bengals. He's recorded 326 receptions for 4,542 yards and 34 receiving touchdowns in 69 career games.

Saturday night's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers could be the last time Joe Burrow throws a football to Tee Higgins. With the Bengals needing to win, plus the Denver Broncos and Los Angeles Chargers to lose to make the playoffs, their season could end Saturday, as well as Higgins' time with the team.

Quarterback Joe Burrow shared his support of wanting the team to extend Higgins multiple times. Leading up to Saturday's game, Burrow was asked about the possibility of playing with Higgins for the last time. Burrow sent a clear message to the Bengals front office to get a deal done with Higgins:

"Whenever a great player leaves, you wish you could have found a way to keep him. You don't want to make a living out of letting great players leave the building. I think that's why you've got to do everything you can to get those deals done early."

The Bengals failed to extend both Tee Higgins and Ja'Marr Chase last offseason. According to overthecap.com, the Bengals have around $61 million in cap space this offseason. That's more than enough to sign at least one of their wide receivers.

If Tee Higgins hits the open market, he'll likely sign elsewhere, as he will be one of the top free-agent wide receivers.
