After a 2021 email controversy between Jon Gruden and the Las Vegas Raiders, the coach has largely been off the radar, especially when it comes to head coaching gigs. However, that might change soon for the Super Bowl XXXVII winning coach.

Taking to Twitter/X, NFL reporter A.J. Perez claimed, via an unnamed source, that Gruden was shaping up to be a "hot" coaching candidate. Responding to the report on Twitter/X, NFL analyst Bomani Jones had a scathing response:

"[I'll] believe it when I see it. Remember: he didn’t lose his job for what he said about black people. it was for calling the commissioner a f****t. Why would Roger let that slide now? And isn’t he suing the league? And that clown hasn’t won a playoff game in 22 years."

Gruden's exit with the Raiders came during a controversy surrounding leaked emails with materials containing racist and homophobic remarks. According to USA Today, Jon Gruden joined Barstool Sports in November and appears to have been working there ever since. Many Barstool Sports videos featuring the coach have been posted to YouTube.

If the former Raiders and Buccaneers head coach is truly a hot commodity in this year's hiring cycle, he has plenty of options.

Perhaps the top spot might be the New Orleans Saints. The team has moved on from Dennis Allen, the last large remaining morsel of Sean Payton's tenure. Gruden proved he could work with Derek Carr to a certain extent in Vegas, laying the foundation for the team that got to the playoffs following his ousting.

Two other potential landing spots are the Chicago Bears and New York Jets. The Jets might want a veteran head coach who knows his way around the gig going in after waiting for Robert Saleh to work through rookie head coach growing pains.

As for the Bears, they have proven that they are unafraid to get big-name pieces such as Caleb Williams, DJ Moore and Keenan Allen. Adding Gruden would be just another veteran to add to the list.
