The 2024 high school football season has been over for quite some time now, but that doesn't mean teams aren't making moves. A lot changes in the offseason for football teams at various levels, from staff and personnel changes to new coaching hires. Now, a certain high school in Georgia just added an NFL Hall of Famer to its staff.
On Monday, former NFL safety Ed Reed was announced on social media as the new offensive coordinator for Chamblee High School in Georgia.
Multiple platforms discussed the hire on social media, including On3 on Instagram.

Many football fans had a lot to say about Ed Reed being an offensive coordinator given that he played defense in college and the NFL.
One fan wrote:
That's like hiring Ray Lewis to coach QBS," one fan commented.
Offensive? Great hire nun the less," another fan added.
Another comment read:
"Little do they realize that half of playing defense, is knowing the offense."
More comments continued to pour in, with one fan saying:
Ed Reed mastered defense this will only open up the offense since he understands what most defenses don't like lol. I'm curious to see how this plays out."
Many fans reacted to the hire with their thoughts, some negative, some positive. But the general consensus of the comments seemed to be about the fact that Ed Reed is coaching offense although he played defense.
Ed Reed has prior coaching experience after being on staff at the University of Miami, the head coach at Bethune Cookman for a short stint and defensive backs coach for the Buffalo Bills.
Chamblee High School's football breakdown
Chamblee High School in Dunwoody, Georgia, concluded the 2024 football season with a record of 2-9 overall, 2-6 in their region, and No. 307 ranking in the state. Their most recent win was against Arabia Mountain in a 28-21 overtime victory on Nov. 1, 2024. Chamblee's last winning season in football was in 2022 when they went 8-3.
Ed Reed's career breakdown
Ed Reed played college football at the University of Miami from 1997-2001 achieving accolades such as being named a First Team All-American, National Defensive Player of the Year, Jim Thorpe Award Finalist and a plethora of awards in his senior year.
He was drafted in the first round of the 2002 NFL draft by the Baltimore Ravens with the No. 24 overall pick. Reed played 12 seasons as a safety in the NFL, 11 for the Ravens, and a half of a season with the New York Jets and Houston Texans. Reed is a Super Bowl champion with the Ravens in 2013. The NFL Hall of Famer totaled 532 solo tackles, 11 forced fumbles and 64 interceptions.
