Justin Simmons is no longer a free agent. The former Denver Broncos safety has finally found a new team.
After remaining a free agent this late into the off-season, Simmons has signed a one-year deal with the Atlanta Falcons. The deal is worth up to $8 million with $7.5 milion guaranteed. ESPN NFL reporter Adam Schefter broke the news on X, formerly known as Twitter:
"Former Broncos Pro-Bowl safety Justin Simmons is signing a one-year, $8 million deal with the Atlanta Falcons."

Upon learning the news about the team signing Simmons, Falcons fans expressed their excitement. The contract appears to be a typical "prove it" deal, and fans think the team got a good value in Simmons for the terms of the contract.
Here's how fans reacted:
"THAT IS SUCH A GOOD DEAL," one fan wrote.
"Aboslute steal for the Falcons," one fan said.
"Nice deal honestly," one person said.
Simmons has spent the last eight seasons with the Denver Broncos. In that span, he has been named a Second-Team All-Pro four times and has been selected to a pair of Pro Bowls. He's recorded 604 tackles, five forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, 30 interceptions, 64 pass deflections, and has scored one defensive touchdown.
Simmons will be paired up with safety Jessie Bates. Bates was named to one Pro Bowl, and a Second-Team All-Pro this past season. Many fans think the two have a chance at becoming the best safety duo in the NFL:
"Bates/Simmons is the best safety duo in the league," one fan said.
"Simmons and Bates in one backfield in INSANE," one person wrote.
"OMG JESSIE BATES AND JUSTIN SIMMONS IS INSANE," one fan wrote.
The Atlanta Falcons have added Matthew Judon and Justin Simmons in the last 24 hours
The Atlanta Falcons' defense has gotten signifigantly better in the last 24 hours. Before adding Justin Simmons via free agency today, the team acquired edge rusher Matthew Judon from the New England Patriots last night. The Falcons sent the Patriots a third-round pick in exchange for Judon.
Judon stepped away briefly from the team while he sought a new contract extension. While he didn't agree to a long-term deal with the Falcons upon being traded there, the belief is the two sides will sign a long-term deal before the start of the season.
Judon was named to four Pro Bowls in a row, from 2019-2022. He had arguably the two most productive seasons of his career with the Patriots in 2021 and 2022, where he recorded 120 tackles, and 28 sacks. Judon missed most of the 2023 season due to a torn lower bicep in Week 4.
Do you think the Falcons' defense will be signifigantly better in 2024?
