American football players take satisfaction in participating in the Pro Bowl. The NFL Pro Bowl this year will appear and feel very different as a completely new format will be in place.
The Pro Bowl has been the subject of love and hate for many football fans. On the one hand, it's exciting to see the top athletes from the National Football Conference and American Football Conference competing.
On the other hand, since no one wants to get hurt during the offseason, defense is frequently viewed as more of an abstract idea than anything else.
However, over the years, there have been a lot of spectacular performances in pro football's all-star game. Let's take a trip down memory lane and recall the greatest Pro Bowl performances of all time.

Joe Theismann, 1984
People remember Theismann's playing days more for how they ended than for anything else. He was a top-tier quarterback in the early 1980s, though, and the 1984 Pro Bowl was the best example of that.
In a game where the NFC was never in danger of losing, Theismann threw three touchdown passes. His team ultimately won 45-3, the largest margin of victory in the game's history.
Steve Tasker, 1993
People have a soft spot for those who labor hard to carry out grunt work in the Pro Bowl, and Tasker had an all-time performance in that regard. The wide receiver and special teams ace, a seven-time Pro Bowler, forced a fumble and blocked a field goal as the AFC defeated the NFC in overtime. He's the only special teams player ever named MVP of the Pro Bowl.
Marshall Faulk, 1995
Marshall Faulk excelled right away in the NFL. As a rookie, he had 314 carries, 52 catches, 1,804 yards from scrimmage and 12 touchdowns.
In the 1995 Pro Bowl, Faulk ran for a record 180 yards while carrying the ball just 13 times. He became the first rookie to earn a Pro Bowl MVP, which is not surprising.
Randy Moss, 2000
Randy Moss had the most receiving touchdowns in the NFL as a rookie (17). He obviously felt like shattering the Pro Bowl single-game receiving yards record after his sophomore campaign.
Moss received the Pro Bowl MVP award after having nine catches for 212 yards and a touchdown. Given the format of today's Pro Bowls, this record still holds and it's unlikely to be surpassed.
Marc Bulger, 2004
Bulger had a number of excellent seasons, one of which was highlighted by an outstanding comeback in the Pro Bowl. While Bulger drove the offense on numerous scoring drives, the NFC was trailing by 25 points. He ended up hitting four different receivers for touchdown passes, and the NFC came back to win 55-52.
