The Super Bowl halftime show is one of the most iconic moments in a musician's career. Performing in front of a huge audience that spans across the globe is an opportunity unlike any other. While reminiscing about the best halftime shows of the past, many fans will choose Prince's performance during Super Bowl XLI.
Not only was the halftime show one to remember, it was the press conference leading up to the big game that has remained in fans' memories. What was expected to be a typical press conference with the halftime performer became a full-fledged concert.

Prince took to the podium for his Super Bowl media presser and instead of taking questions, put on a 12-minute performance. Before performing, he said that "contrary to a rumor, I'd like to take questions," as there were reports that he may not participate in the press conference.
He then began playing his guitar and the rest is history. It is still one of the most talked about moments in the history of the game. Even reporters who were in attendance and ready to take questions were happy about the impromptu concert.
With this year's halftime performer Rihanna gearing up to take the podium, many on social media are hopeful that she will take the same route. But, as others mentioned, this was something that only Prince could do. Even going as far as to say that Prince set the "gold standard" and that few could even try and take his lead.
Rihanna's Super Bowl halftime performance will be her return to the stage
Grammy award-winning singer Rihanna will perform at halftime during Super Bowl LVII on Sunday, February 12, 2023 in Glendale, Arizona. Rihanna hasn't been on tour or released a nebum since 2016.
Sunday's performance will be her return to performing live and comes with anticipation for fans who are eager to hear her new album that has been rumored to be in the works for months.
Rihanna will take the stage for 14 minutes to a global audience. As with previous halftime performers, the singer will probably play her older and more widely known music to appeal to the vast audience. So, fans most likely won't get a glimpse of her newer music just yet.
With 14 number one hits and over 30 songs that have been on Billboard's Top 10, Rihanna's show should have fans dancing in their living rooms.
