LeSean McCoy's stern warning to the NFL signals trouble brewing in Kansas City. The former NFL running back believes Patrick Mahomes' first Pro Bowl snub since becoming the Chiefs' starter will fuel a competitive fire that opponents should fear.
McCoy, who played alongside Mahomes during the Chiefs' Super Bowl LIV victory, has witnessed the quarterback's relentless drive firsthand. He guided Kansas City to an exceptional 15-1 record and clinched the AFC's top seed. But Mahomes was passed over for the 2025 Pro Bowl in favor of Josh Allen, Joe Burrow and Lamar Jackson.
On Friday's "The Facility Show," McCoy shared his candid thoughts, saying:
"I know Pat, when I seen this, I said, 'Oh, the league is in trouble.' Because one thing about Patrick Mahomes, the greatest players I've been around, the Toms, right? The Pats, they are super competitive. I'm talking about they don't lose nothing, card games, chess, checkers, tic tac toe, they got attitudes if they lose. He's like that."

The snub ends Patrick Mahomes' remarkable streak of six consecutive Pro Bowl selections dating back to 2018. His 2024 season statistics tell an interesting story. While posting career lows in passing yards (3,928) and touchdowns (26), he achieved his highest completion percentage at 67.5%. Mahomes maintained excellent ball security with just 11 interceptions.
McCoy raves about Patrick Mahomes' competitiveness
On Friday's episode, McCoy painted a vivid picture of Mahomes' competitive response, saying:
"So now I'll get the Pro Bowl. Oh, okay, so you think Joe Burrows are gonna play off. You think he's better than me? Oh, wait, wait, wait, wait. You think Josh Allen, Oh, you think he's better than you? Wait Time out. So you think Lamar Jackson, you think they better than me? Cool."
This extra motivation arrives at a crucial moment. The Chiefs have already secured home-field advantage throughout the AFC playoffs and are pursuing their third straight Super Bowl title. Their recent decision to rest key players, including Mahomes, in Week 18 shows their focus on the bigger prize.
As McCoy confidently said, "He'll get the last laugh. That's who Patrick Mahomes is," the 29-year-old quarterback, already bound for Canton before turning 30, has consistently turned doubts into fuel for success.
