Most NFL fans aren't happy with the league's announcement of the 2025 international games lineup. The main reason behind the frustration is the choice of teams and venues as a deliberate slight against London’s football-loving crowd.

Next season, London is primed to host the New York Jets, Cleveland Browns and Jacksonville Jaguars. While Tottenham Hotspur Stadium will host the games featuring the Jets and the Browns, the Jaguars will return to Wembley Stadium.

"It’s clear to me that the NFL hates London," one fan wrote.

"Poor London…," another reacted with pity.

Meanwhile, a third fan commented:

"Those poor UK fans.

More fans weighed in with their opinions about how London deserves better.

"The English get to see terrible football," one fan commented.

The essence of the problem is that the league is using London as a trial ground for its least appealing games. Yes, the Jaguars have long regarded London as their second home. However, bringing back the same team year after year eliminates variation. Adding the Jets and Browns, both of which have inconsistent performances, just makes matters worse.

NFL UK general manager Henry Hodgson sounded thrilled about the league’s commitment to take football growth across the pond.

“We look forward to welcoming the Jets, Browns, and Jaguars to London for the 2025 NFL International Games," Hodgson said. "This season will see us surpass 40 regular-season games in the capital, showcasing the U.K.’s vital role in the global growth of the sport.
"The London games continue to drive year-round fan engagement while fueling the growth of flag football, which now has over 100,000 young participants.”

The Jets and the Browns have a great chance to grow their brands in an untapped market. Jets president Hymie Elhai is "proud" to get a chance to play in London.

“This opportunity allows us to deepen our connection with fans in the U.K., a relationship we’ve been cultivating for years,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Browns’ COO David Jenkins said their first game at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is the team's commitment to global outreach.

“We’re eager to connect with our U.K. fans and contribute to the growing global popularity of the Browns and the NFL,” he said.

The Jaguars, for their part, also is excited about their role as London’s football ambassadors.

“Wembley is our home away from home, and this game represents the pinnacle of our grassroots efforts in the U.K,” Jaguars owner Shad Khan said, hinting at the team’s investments in U.K.-based youth programs like JagTag.

That said, the final schedule, set to release next spring, may still surprise skeptics.
