The Chicago Bears signed No. 1 pick Caleb Williams to a four-year rookie contract. The fully guaranteed contract is worth $39 million and includes a $25.5 million signing bonus and a fifth-year team option. Williams, the first pick of the 2024 draft, will be the Bears' starting quarterback this season.

Despite all that, some Bears fans were shocked at what a rookie player is making in the NFL. A couple of fans referenced Williams' tendency to paint his nails as a tribute to his mom, a former nail technician.

"Wasting money on a nail tech is crazy," a fan wrote.

"the nail salons are partying tonight in Chicago," a fan added.

Other fans, however, think the deal is super team-friendly, especially with what quarterbacks are signing for now.

"This contract wild," a fan added.
"These rookie contracts are insane values if a player turns out half decent," a fan added.

Other Bears fans, meanwhile, are just happy to have Williams signed as their franchise quarterback.

"lol and Purdy makes like $10 per game," a fan added.
"Does Chicago's streak of horrible QB drafts break with this one?," a fan wrote.

Some fans are worried Williams will be a bust due to their history of bad quarterbacks. But, for now, there is promise for the Bears entering 2024.

Bears GM says Caleb Williams is showing special traits in practice

Caleb Williams has yet to play a down in an NFL game, but he has already been impressing the Chicago Bears front office in practice.

During the Bears OTAs, general manager Ryan Poles said Williams was already showing traits of being a special player in the NFL.

"What you see is it's a big deal: It's pocket awareness in-field, the ability to take a drop, climb, move in and out to buy time, but always keeping your eyes downfield," Poles said, via SI. "That's critical in this league. It's an instinctual thing that you work on, but the special guys have the special awareness.
"Again, that manipulation of the pocket is huge because it's hard to buy time with his feet with the pass rush that we have (coming). And it's one of those rare traits that he has."

Caleb Williams and the Bears will have their first preseason game on Aug. 1 against Houston. Chicago will open its 2024 season at home on Sept. 8 against the Tennessee Titans.
