On Friday, February 17th, former Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy signed with the Washington Commanders to be their new offensive coordinator.
He left the Chiefs after serving as their offensive coordinator from 2018-2022. He's finished with a top-five offense in all of the five seasons he was there.
Many were confused that Bieniemy would leave the Chiefs for another team in the same role after being snubbed for a head coaching position for another off-season.

Bieniemy will reportedly also be the team's assistant head coach and will be in charge of play-calling, something he didn't have full control over in Kansas City.
On "Pardon the Interruption", hosts Tony Kornheiser and Michael Wilbon discussed Bieniemy signing with the Commanders.
Wilbon thinks that he should be a head coach already and that it's garbage that he wasn't signed as a head coach this off-season.
Wilbon said:
"He should be head coach by now. I mean, it's people will come in and they're coordinator for a year and they look bad. And the last game they play like the Super Bowl and they go right to a head coaching spot."
He continued:
"This is garbage and you know everybody will try to figure out a way to explain it away. I hate it and I'm not going to try to explain it away. If he had a choice, he wouldn't be taking this on."
Bieneimy has had a total of 17 interviews or requests by a number of teams across the league over the past few seasons, but has yet to land a head coaching gig.
Chiefs QBs coach Matt Nagy likely to replace Eric Bieniemy as team's offensive coordinator
While the Chiefs lost a very valuable asset to their team in Bieniemy, they will likely replace him with QBs coach Matt Nagy.
Multiple reports have pointed to him as the favorite to land the position.
Nagy was the team's offensive coordinator in 2016-2017 before becoming the Chicago Bears' head coach for a few seasons. He re-joined the Chiefs again in 2022 as the quarterback coach and senior assistant. Nagy had another successful season with his first Super Bowl victory.
He's expected to be the next OC, which should be finalized soon. He could have a much bigger role in the offense.
