The Pittsburgh Steelers traded wide receiver Chase Claypool on Tuesday afternoon, just hours before the trade deadline. Claypool was dealt to the Chicago Bears in exchange for a 2023 second-round draft pick. The 24-year-old was drafted as an offensive weapon for the Steelers, but his time with the team was tumultuous.
He didn't live up to the hype on the field as well as off of it. He was criticized for his TikTok videos with former Steelers wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster. Last season, as time was winding down against the Minnesota Vikings, he had an impromptu and unnecessary celebration that cost the offense valuable time.
He was vocal about the Steelers offense this season and what he feels needs to change. As the Steelers' struggles continue with a 2-6 record, it now appears that they are willing to part with certain players on the active roster to try and salvage the rest of the season.

NFL fans took to Twitter to express their opinions on the trade. Some were shocked, while others were more surprised about the return on the trade for the wide receiver. Others were just shocked that the Bears were the team that traded for Claypool when there was speculation that the Green Bay Packers were interested.
How long did WR Chase Claypool play for the Steelers?
The Pittsburgh Steelers drafted wide receiver Chase Claypool out of Notre Dame in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft. Alongside wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster and Diontae Johnson, he was intended to add yet another spark to the Steelers offense.
However, in 2020 and 2021, he failed to reach the 1,000 yard receiving mark, racking up just over 800 yards each season. He had an impressive nine touchdowns in his rookie season, but just two in all of 2021.
So far through the first eight weeks of the season, he has just 266 receiving yards and one touchdown. He did have a touchdown pass this past Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles on a trick play to fullback Derek Watt.
The wide receiver will now head to the Chicago Bears, where he will catch passes from second-year quarterback Justin Fields. Whether this will be the spark that he needs to have a breakout season remains to be seen for the third-year wide receiver as he now makes his mark in the NFC.
