"This one stings" - Cowboys fans make feelings known as Bears poach Al Harris

Al Harris is reportedly leaving the Dallas Cowboys, where he served as assistant head coach, to join the Chicago Bears, as their passing game coordinator. The news was shared by Patrick Walker on X.

"Al Harris has agreed to terms with the #Bears to join incoming head coach Ben Johnson as the team's passing game coordinator in 2025 — parting ways with the #Cowboys," the journalist wrote.

Already grappling with a leadership shift following the departure of Mike McCarthy, this was a tough blow for the team and the fans.

"This one stings a bit," one fan wrote.
"Hate seeing him go. Sucks," another commented.

Meanwhile, a third fan replied:

"Dude I’m done seriously."

More NFL fans joined in and shared their opinions.

"These past 2 offseasons have been horrible. Jerry is way past his expiration date," one fan commented.

Al Harris joined the Dallas Cowboys in 2020. He has a keen eye for coaching cornerbacks and in the past, has trained stars like Trevon Diggs and DaRon Bland.

However, with the Chicago Bears hiring him as defensive backs coach and defensive pass-game coordinator, he is returning to his NFC North roots.

Harris will be working under the incoming Bears' new head coach, Ben Johnson. Harris and Johnson previously worked together with the Miami Dolphins in 2012. Last year, the Dallas Cowboys promoted Al Harris to assistant head coach.

However, his exit, following several other departures including special teams coach John "Bones" Fassel and wide receivers coach Robert Prince are critical moves in the Cowboys' coaching overhaul.

Now, Jerry Jones has a major task ahead of him, which is to find replacements.

Al Harris is a former NFL player turned NFL coach

With a long career as a player first and then a coach, Al Harris brings a wealth of experience. During his NFL career, he gained fame with his crucial overtime interception in the 2003 playoffs and helped his former team, the Green Bay Packers win the game.

After playing in the league from 1997-2011, Harris forayed into coaching with his former team, Miami Dolphins, learning under coach Joe Philbin.

Next, he joined the Kansas City Chiefs under coach Andy Reid in 2013. However, six years later, when the Chiefs revamped their defensive staff after a tough AFC Championship game in 2018, he was laid off.

Finally, in 2020, he joined the Dallas Cowboys as their secondary coach.

Now, in 2025, Harris is going to start afresh with the Chicago Bears.
