Pat McAfee has become more and more controversial ever since he has joined ESPN. The former Indianapolis Colts punter has talked about many sensitive topics in a manner that some fans think is unnecessary on a sports program, and this happened again recently.

As the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics took place on Friday, McAfee had a problem with plenty of the elements displayed during the ceremony, especially regarding the history of France. Perhaps without knowing that this is a common theme across every ceremony for the summer Olympics, he said he just wanted to "watch the athletes."

"We just want it to revolve around sport. And we can't have the Opening Ceremony be a reason why people won't watch these athletes who have sacrificed everything."

NFL fans had a massive problem with his comments. Since the Olympics are one of the biggest shows in the world that everyone watches, the opening ceremony is supposed to be an occasion to celebrate the world as well. McAfee's comments had many fans upset, with some even calling him a far-right activist:

A few fans think McAfee's take showed he wasn't familiar with the Olympic opening ceremony.

"Bros never seen an Olympic Opening Ceremony before, apparently," one fan said.
"Has anyone ever watched an Olympic opening ceremony before this year?" asked another.
"The opening ceremony has and always been combination of celebrating the people of the host country and sports. He should shut up," was another take.

Meanwhile, one fan called out McAfee for being a "crybaby."

"Shouldn’t have to cater to cry babies who don’t understand context", said a fan.

Of course, nobody is going to stop watching the athletes just because they don't agree with what's happening with the opening ceremony. Unless you're Harrison Butker.

When Pat McAfee's show fueled talk about the comeback attempt of Aaron Rodgers

Although Aaron Rodgers made an impressive recovery, it was clear to many that he would not return to play in the 2023 season. However, he still appeared weekly on Tuesdays on Pat McAfee's show, and gave hopeful updates for the fans. When it was all said and done, Rodgers did not return in the 2023 season.

It's unclear if there will be appearances during the 2024 season as well, but plenty of Jets fans don't want it to happen.
