Matthew Stafford is widely recognized as one of the best NFL quarterbacks of the past few years, but for all his qualities, his mobility was never thought of as an asset. The veteran quarterback is far from being a fast quarterback, with his quality coming from his throws.

However, when quarterbacks with this build-up try to run the football, one of the biggest advantages is the element of surprise attached to their runs. And that's something that Stafford was able to take advantage of during the game against the Arizona Cardinals, which they won 13-9.

The veteran quarterback pulled a rabbit out of the hat during the second quarter of the game, with a scramble that earned the Rams a new set of downs. NFL fans were surprised to see a quarterback with his athleticism and his age still being able to pull out great runs:

"Stafford's still got it making plays like it's a highlight reel", said one fan.
"Geez cardinals getting cooked by those old legs", said another fan.
"The old dog still has some pep in his step!", a third fan said.

The run was extremely important, as it gave Los Angeles a first down in what turned out to be their only touchdown of the game. The 13-9 win against the Cardinals all but locked the NFC West title for them, with the Seattle Seahawks needing an extreme combination of results to win the division.

Matthew Stafford has made the playoffs in three of four seasons he has played with the Rams

The 2021 trade, when the Rams sent Jared Goff and a few draft picks to the Detroit Lions in exchange for the veteran quarterback, remains one of the greatest deals in NFL history, with both passers fitting perfectly in their new franchises.

Since then, the Rams have been in the playoffs almost every season, with the exception being 2022 when most of the team got injured. They won the Super Bowl in Stafford's first season in Los Angeles, and are aiming for the first division title since then.

This season, the veteran has 3,573 passing yards, 20 passing touchdowns and eight interceptions.
