Tom Brady details key factor to judge himself on $375,000,000 FOX broadcasting job

While Tom Brady has retired from the NFL, he has kept himself busy. The NFL icon is preparing for his next job as a broadcaster. Brady inked a mammoth 10-year, $375 million deal with FOX Sports in 2022. He will make his broadcasting debut late this year, in September.

On Monday, Brady appeared on FS1's "The Herd" with Colin Cowherd. The former New England Patriots quarterback was asked if he would be "hyper competitive" in the broadcast booth, just like he was on the gridiron.

Brady acknowledged the competitive aspect. But he said that it would not be the driving factor. Brady went on to explain how he will gauge his performances in the broadcast booth.

"Certainly with the broadcaster, I don't think for me, it's about competition. I think it's for me, it's about "did I put everything I could into it? Did I give the fans everything that they tuned in for?" And that's really how I'll end up gauging myself," Brady said.

"I'll have to look at myself at the end of every Sunday night going, "Did I do a good enough job? Did I live up to the belief that Fox had in me? Did I live up to the expectations of my teammates... the entire team? That's ultimately how I judge myself in that new role," he added.

Brady will call his first game from the FOX booth in Week 1 of the 2024 NFL season, when the Cleveland Browns take on the Dallas Cowboys.

Tom Brady's FOX colleagues get candid about his broadcasting future

The NFL world awaits to see how Tom Brady will fare in the next chapter of his life as a broadcaster. He has received support and backing of many. At the same time, there have also been concerns on what he'll bring to the table.

But his soon-to-be co-panelists at FOX, Erin Andrews and Charissa Thomspon, are not worried. The two were guest on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" when Brady came up in discussion.

"I've sat with him at lunch before and he's been telling stories about his career, and it's stuff we just die for. Love the inside information, and you are just hearing stuff that you've just always wanted to know."

Andrews added:

"Everybody's worried about the commentating, but I'm just like, ' The guy's skin. I have to deal with this, him being on my crew.' "

Charissa Thompson mentioned:

"His resume supports that he is great at everything he does, so why would this be any different?"

Brady will have all eyes and ears locked in on him when he makes his broadcasting debut in September. His teammates, Andrews and Thompson, have faith it will be a huge success.
