Tom Brady gets blunt on Rob Gronkowski's draft meeting disaster with Patriots

Tom Brady had a hilarious take after Rob Gronkowski revealed how his draft meeting went with the Patriots. The tight end would become an important offensive weapon for the quarterback in the second half of the New England dynasty but it almost could not have come to pass.

Rob Gronkowski revealed that he met with the Patriots last in draft meetings and he was exhausted by that point. He recollected falling asleep in front of some of the biggest executives from the organization. When he was asked to recall a play, he could not do so and just said that he was willing to catch the ball and make some yards. The tight end left the meeting with the impression that the franchise would either love him or hate him and it turned out to be the former in the end.

However, Tom Brady commented with a quip of his own, assuring his colleague that the impression was not positive. He wrote on X/Twitter,

"Gronk I promise they did not love it"

Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski would go on to form one of the best quarterback-receiver duos of all time but the tight end has previously recollected that his first impression of the GOAT was not positive. In an interview on the New Heights podcast, he said,

"I mean at first I thought he [Brady] was out of control man I was like this dude crazy. Like, I just never seen anyone in what way like a d*ckhead. Like kind of I was like he's like a coach. This isn't like my buddy, you know?.. That's what I was like... I'm like this guy this guy's f**king yelling at me."

Rob Gronkowski said that he did not understand initially was Tom Brady was berating him for the smallest mistakes but then he understood where that was coming from, noting,

"I mess up just a tad bit and dude's yelling at me like 'get over there' like a coach. He's yelling at me more and then it took me a little bit you know to to realize like where it was coming from and what the love was for... I kind of felt like he was more hard on me at first because I think he saw some talent in me, man. I think he saw the opportunity that I had that was presented in front of me."

Given how the tight end's draft meeting with the Patriots went and how his first impression of Tom Brady was, it seems inconceivable to imagine how successful Rob Gronkowski actually was in New England.
