Former New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady announced his retirement from football last week after 23 successful seasons.

This comes a season after he originally retired last year, before he decided to return again for another season.

On Colin Cowherd's "The Herd with Colin Cowherd" on Monday morning, Brady didn't exactly rule out a comeback when asked by Cowherd.

"I think for me, you know, I know in my heart, how I feel," Brady said. "And, you know, I put it out on the field for 23 years, and I'm super proud of, you know, what's been accomplished. And, you know, I just wanted to keep last week really short and sweet. And I felt like I've given a lot, I've gained a lot, I've learned a lot.
"And, you know, life is about, you know, exciting things ahead, too. So, I think when one thing closes like football has for me for 32 years of my life."

Brady added that he is excited for new things post-football and loved his time playing the game.

"And you know, I look forward to what's ahead. There's new chapters, and there's new exciting things, and there's new growth, there's new opportunities, and I'm really excited for what's ahead," Brady said. "So, you know, I've loved my time at football, it's absolutely an incredible love in my life.
"And it's hard to make decisions like that. But it's certainly the right time."

While the deal allows for Brady to step into the booth whenever he decides, he has chosen to take the year off and will make his debut next fall in 2024.

He is expected to replace former NFL tight end Greg Olsen in the network's No. 1 booth as Olsen will still be in that role this upcoming season.

Brady retired as the greatest quarterback and player in NFL history. He will begin his next football journey in 2024 when he's in the booth, analyzing the game from above.
