NFC Wild Card Playoffs - Dallas Cowboys v Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Tom Brady during Dallas Cowboys v Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers took on the Dallas Cowboys in the Wild Card round. The prize for a win was a place in the NFC Divisional round. Brady had never lost to the Cowboys in his career. The Buccaneers were at home, and Dallas came into the game well short of form. Instead, it went all wrong as the Dallas Cowboys humbled the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. They held them scoreless in the first half. Tom Brady threw for an interception in the end zone. Ultimately, it was a blowout 31-14 loss for the Bucs at the hands of the rampaging Cowboys.

Fans turned their ire on Tom Brady after this bad loss. They were hoping for him to come through as he has always done, but it was not to be.

Is Tom Brady really so bad that he has to retire?

The loss to the Dallas Cowboys will sting a lot. It was an ugly 31-14 defeat and not one Tom Brady will want to look back on. He completed only 35 of his 66 passing attempts and threw for two touchdowns and one interception. His passer rating was 72.2. and his completion rate was just 53 percent.

However, it disguises the reason why he had to throw 66 times, which points to a lack of run game that he has faced all season. It removed his ability to switch up plays and use the run game. He also could not call upon play action as he would have liked because the rushing game was effectively neutralized. If anything, he was the reason the Buccaneers went as far as they did, winning many late games due to Brady's sheer willpower.

If the Tampa Bay Buccaneers do not improve their roster to boost their running game, it is going to be tough for Brady to come back and succeed again here. However, there are other spots in the NFL that would benefit from him playing. He threw for 4,694 passing yards in the regular season, in third place behind Patrick Mahomes and Justin Herbert. Going to a team like the Las Vegas Raiders currently looks a good fit.

Ultimately, Tom Brady will take his time and make the best decision for himself. When he does, fans should be grateful either way.
