The 2007 NFL playoffs are best remembered for Tom Coughlin and the New York Giants beating the 18-0 New England Patriots in the Super Bowl. That denied them the opportunity of becoming only the second team to go an entire season undefeated, but that wasn't the Giants' first upset win in that run.

In the divisional round of the playoffs, they faced off the 13-3 Dallas Cowboys, who were the favorites to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl. Jerry Jones was so confident that his team would beat the underdog Giants that he was handing out tickets to his players for their families to attend the Conference Championship Game at Texas Stadium, but it backfired spectacularly.

During Coughlin's appearance on Barstool Sports' Pardon My Take podcast, host Eric Sollenberger, better known as PFT Commenter, asked whether Jones inadvertently gave the Giants extra motivation before their playoff game. The two-time Super Bowl-winning coach said:

"Jerry had put two tickets on each player's stool in the locker room before the NFC Championship Game, which would have been at home there in Dallas had Dallas won. We found out about that, and, of course, I subtly mentioned it to my team, and that gave them a little extra incentive if you will."

The Cowboys haven't had a 13-win season since then, and Jones is still looking for his first Super Bowl win since 1996.

Jerry Jones threatens to fire radio host

Jones' hopes of ending that long wait likely won't end this season, as the Dallas Cowboys slipped to 3-3 after a 47-9 loss to Detroit Lions on Sunday, their second blowout defeat at AT&T Stadium following their 44-19 thrashing against the New Orleans Saints in Week 2.

Their underwhelming start to the season was confirmation to most Cowboys fans that their offseason business, which isn't much to write home about outside of Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb's massive contract extension, wasn't enough for the team to have a successful season.

When 103.5 The Fan's hosts Shan Shariff, Bobby Belt and RJ Choppy asked Jones about the front office's lack of activity in the offseason, the 82-year-old snapped at the trio and threatened to have them fired. He said:

“That's not your job. I'll get somebody else to ask these questions. I'm not kidding. You're not going to figure it out what the team is doing right or wrong. ... You really think you're gonna sit here with a microphone and tell me all of the things that I've done wrong without going over the rights?" [From 1:23]

Jones' testy response suggested he too is frustrated about how the season has panned out and the criticism being hurled at him for doing an underwhelming job as the general manager.
