Most NFL fans agree that Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has had a heck of an offseason.

It started with the team cutting ties with Kellen Moore. The team then picked up oft-lauded cornerback Stephon Gilmore. Now, the Cowboys have possession of Brandin Cooks.

Speaking on "Undisputed," former NFL player Shannon Sharpe saw the move for Cooks as an action taken to make up for a past mistake:

"Can we finally admit now that [trading] Amari Cooper [was] a mistake and... bringing in T.Y. Hilton for a stretch playoff run and now trading for Brandin Cooks that trading Amari Cooper was a mistake because they didn't have anyone to fulfill that other side."

Will Brandin Cooks make the playoffs in 2023?

Sharpe continued by listing the team's failed attempts to replace Cooper:

"Clearly, Noah Brown was not the answer. Michael Gallup [needed] the extra year in order for him to get up to speed to get back to his normal 'Michael Gallup' self. Trading Amari Cooper was a mistake."

Jerry Jones' move spurns Odell Beckham Jr. for second time after strong flirtation in 2022

Around Thanksgiving, Odell Beckham Jr. was nearing a comeback according to most fans. During that time, the Dallas Cowboys were allegedly the most likely landing spot for the receiver, who was coming off an ACL injury.

Despite the strong expectation from around the league, Dallas zigged and picked up T.Y. Hilton instead. Hilton, 33, earned 121 yards in three games and an additional 38 yards in two playoff games.

With the receiver still available after the season, some expected Jerry Jones to commit after the failed attempt to take the cheaper route. Instead, the team once again appears to have zigged as they picked up Brandin Cooks over the weekend.

Cooks is coming off his first sub-1000 yard season since 2019, earning 699 yards and three touchdowns in a Houston Texans offense led by Davis Mills. Will Cooks get cooking again in 2023, or will rumors of the Cowboys making another run at a receiver make the rounds once again?
