The Washington Commanders entered Sunday's NFC Championship Game against the Philadelphia Eagles as heavy underdogs. Despite their major turnaround from last season under the leadership of Jayden Danels, Dan Quinn, and Adam Peters, there were still doubts about their ability to compete against bona fide contenders.

And early on, they proved the doubters wrong, coming back from 3-14 down to make it a two-point game. But then three touchdowns against a field goal returned the game to blowout territory.

In the midst of this, influencer Kayla Nicole, best known for her past relationship with Travis Kelce, tried to rally them:

"Fight back Washington (worried emoji)"

Turnovers costing Commanders vs. Eagles in NFC Championship Game

In the lead-up to the NFC Championship game, multiple Commanders players expressed excitement about potentially causing an upset and returning the team to the Super Bowl for the first time since the days of the Hogs.

"We're gonna stand on it, man, and I truly believe that," linebacker Frankie Luvu said. "We put in the work that's our calling, and we didn't come this far just to come this far. I know the guys are ready, prepared, and healthy, and however long it takes, we're going to be there."

Washington had split the regular-season series with the Eagles, with the home team winning each game. Jayden Daniels emphasized the need to have new kinks in their gameplan in the playoffs:

“I think you put some different wrinkles into the game plan, and I'm pretty sure they will too. But at the end of the day, it's about execution and fundamentals and that's a very good team that we're going to face for a third time..”

But on Sunday, they seemingly unraveled, committing five turnovers. The first was when Dyami Brown caught a pass for a six-yard gain, only for Zack Baun to strip him of the ball, which Reed Blankenship recovered. Saquon Barkley then punished it with a scoring rush.

Then, in the second half, Will Shipley knocked the ball from Jeremy McNichols during a kickoff return. It was recovered by Kenneth Gainwell and turned into yet another touchdown, this time from Jalen Hurts to AJ Brown.

In the third quarter, Baun was involved in another fumble, recovering the ball after Oren Burks knocked it off Austin Ekeler. This time, Hurts snuck in to finish the ensuing drive.

And finally, a turnover on downs and an interception between another Barkley rush seemed to have killed any chances of a comeback.
