Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce are leaders of a Kansas City Chiefs team with a mission to become historic. They aim to win the first three-peat in the history of the Super Bowl, and their playoff path starts on Saturday, when they take on the Houston Texans in the AFC divisional round.

The AFC is loaded with great quarterbacks. However, apart from the 2021 season, it has been dominated by Mahomes since 2019, with the Chiefs in the Super Bowl four times. For Travis Kelce, Mahomes' favorite target all along the way, his leadership and his command is what makes it all possible:

"I've seen Patrick weather the storm and he's better because of it. When the team needs him the most, he steps up. It happens year and year out. It's just so much fun to be a part of the team with him. Because he's always gonna take the bull my the horns. Be the most accountable. That's true leadership right there man"

The quarterback's legendary playoff history was already made en route to his first title. In 2019, the Chiefs orchestrated three comebacks of at least 10 points, including a 24-0 comeback over the same Texans in the divisional round. Ending with the title proved that he was ready to dominate.

What's Patrick Mahomes' record in the postseason?

In 18 games since he became the starter for the Chiefs in 2018, he holds an extremely impressive record of 15-3, with three titles, four Super Bowl appearances and 41 touchdowns in those games.

The only two quarterbacks to ever defeat the Chiefs in a playoff game since he took over were Tom Brady (2018, 2020) and Joe Burrow (2021). Brady, who won more Super Bowls in his career than any other player in the history of the league, did it with two different teams, including in Super Bowl LV with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

A third straight Super Bowl victory would immortalize Mahomes in the NFL folklore and put him just three rings away from Brady with many seasons to go in his career. Greatness is alive.
