Ahead of their Week 5 game against the New Orleans Saints, the Kansas City Chiefs have signed Jody Fortson to their active roster. The 28-year-old tight end signed with the Chiefs as an undrafted free agent in 2019 and contributed to the team in the 2021 and 2022 NFL seasons.
Fortson signed a one-year $1.125 million deal with the Miami Dolphins earlier this year but was released by the franchise in August. Since the Chiefs added another tight end to their active roster, fans on social media began trolling Travis Kelce, who has not had a productive start to the season. Some jokingly even floated the idea that Fortson is Kelce's replacement.
Here's how fans reacted on social media:

"Travis playing so bad they gotta active Jody fortson", said one fan
"Travis Kelce's career is over", added another
"How much help does Mahomes need?", added another
"He’ll somehow end up with 5 for 80", said one fan while projecting Fortson's production
Despite a slow start to the season, Travis Kelce came up big for the Chiefs in Week 4's win against the Los Angeles Chargers. The star tight end finished the game with seven receptions for 89 yards on nine targets.
With Rashee Rice out injured, the Chiefs will utilize Kelce a lot more, and maybe Fortson will take on the blocking role to help out the offensive line.

Jody Fortson has played 19 games across two seasons for the Kansas City Chiefs. In those 19 games, he has recorded 14 receptions for 155 yards and four touchdowns on 18 targets.
With their top two wide receivers out injured, the Chiefs will heavily rely on running the ball and utilizing their tight ends a lot more. Fortson and Kelce, along with Noah Gray, will see a lot of action on the field in the coming weeks.
Gray has eight receptions for 90 yards in four games this season. The presence of three tight ends will open up the field for a speedy wideout like Xavier Worthy and also help the Chiefs' running game, now spearheaded by Kareem Hunt.
The Chiefs are 4-0 heading into Week 5 and will hope to continue their winning streak against a very good Saints team.
