Tyreek Hill wants out of the Miami Dolphins. The wide receiver finished the worst year of his career on Sunday, with only 959 yards and six touchdowns, both the lowest marks of his career in a full 17-game season.
Hill, who's widely considered one of the best wide receivers in the league, endured a frustrating afternoon in Week 18. He had just two receptions for 20 yards, and with the Dolphins' loss, they were eliminated from playoff contention - they would not qualify for the postseason even with a win.
Afterward, the wide receiver was extremely frank with reporters in the locker room. He declared that, while he enjoyed being in Miami for the past three years, he did not want to stay in this situation for longer:
“I’m opening the door. I’m out bro. It was great playing here, but at the end of the day I got to do what’s best for my career. I’m too much of a competitor to be just out there.”

Hill then took to X, hinting a potential exit and thanked the Dolphins fans for showering him and his family with love, during his time in Miami.
He was part of the Miami Dolphins team for three years, making the playoffs in 2022 and 2023. The franchise did not win any playoff games with Hill on the roster; he was part of the Kansas City Chiefs' Super Bowl winning roster in 2019.
Mike McDaniel speaks about Tyreek Hill's comments
The statements made by the wide receiver sent shockwaves through NFL circles, and they quickly arrived at the head coach's ears. He downplayed the issue when speaking to reporters during a press conference:
“I’m not going to be too much weight on second hand postgame disappointment statements. We will see how next couple days progress in convos with him and I.”
McDaniel joined the franchise in 2022, the same year when Miami pulled a trade with Kansas City to acquire the receiver.
Prior to the 2024 season, Hill signed a three-year, $90 million contract extension with the franchise, which means that he's under contract for two more seasons. According to Spotrac, he'll have cap hits of $28.6 million in 2025 and $51.8 million in 2026, but Miami can clear almost all of 2026's cap with a trade.
