Tyrone Davis was a well-known tight end who spent eight years in the NFL. The former Green Bay Packers footballer passed away this month in his native state of Virginia. He was 50 years of age.
The tragic news was broken by Earl Dotson, a retired Packers offensive tackle who played alongside Davis in Green Bay.

"This is difficult to post. But, friend, rest in peace. For years, this kind man, Tyrone Davis, fought beside me for the NFL's Green Bay Packers. Forever a brother."
Following his passing on October 2, funeral services were planned for October 8. According to Virginia Cavaliers journalist Jerry Ratcliffe, Davis passed away due to an unidentified ailment.
The cause of death is yet to be officially determined. All that is known presently is that he passed away late on Sunday night from an unknown ailment.
Tyrone Davis' NFL career
The New York Jets selected Davis in the fourth round of the 1995 NFL Draft out of the University of Virginia. With 28 touchdown catches, he owned a school record.
After being signed by the Packers in 1997, he made 69 appearances and had 27 starts in six years with the team. He also participated in seven more postseason contests.
In a victory over the New York Giants in 1998, he caught Brett Favre's 200th touchdown throw. Davis was let go by the Packers before the 2003 campaign.
He had a solid NFL career overall, with 73 receptions for 795 yards and 13 touchdowns.
The Halifax County-South Boston Sports Hall of Fame, located in Davis' hometown, inducted him in 2012.
Davis had weight problems in the latter years of his NFL career and finished the 2000 season weighing 126 kg. Despite being told to shed weight, he showed up to a post-draft minicamp the following April weighing about 130 kg.
After having surgery to fix a torn hamstring, he missed much of the 2001 season. The primary muscles and tendons in his hamstrings were strained.
His death came as a blow to all those who remembered his contributions to the Green Bay Packers.
