Veteran NFL analyst Dan Patrick believes Robert Kraft needs to move on from the era of 'Patriot Way' ahead of their coach search.

The Patriots fired coach Jerod Mayo after just one season. It was a bit of a surprise as New England is looking to hire a new coach to help rebuild the team and get it back into Super Bowl contention.

After a disappointing season for the Patriots, Patrick believes Kraft needs to re-do the culture. The analyst claims the Patriot Way ended once Tom Brady and Bill Belichick left, and it's time for New England to get past that thinking.

“Everybody’s a genius when you got Belichick and Brady," Patrick said. "When you only have one, not everybody’s a genius, including the genius. When you don’t have either, it falls back to ‘Who’s running this team?’ The Krafts have been running this team the last five years, not Bill Belichick.
“The Patriot Way is done," Patrick added. "The Patriot Way was Belichick and Brady. Not the Krafts. Because once the emperor has no clothes, it’s pretty freaking cold. That’s what you have going on there. How did it get here? It happened right before our very eyes.”

The Patriots went 4-13 and beat the Buffalo Bills 23-16 in Week 18, which caused them to lose the first overall pick. New England will now select fourth overall in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Robert Kraft takes the blame for disappointing Patriots season

The Patriots were expected to be one of the worst teams in the NFL and that is what happened.

After a disappointing season, Kraft fired Mayo and took full responsibility for the unsuccessful season.

"This whole situation is on me. I feel terrible for Jerod because I put him in an untenable situation. I know that he has all the tools of a head coach to be successful in this league. He just needed more time before taking the job," Kraft said Monday, via CBS.
"In the end, I'm a fan of this team first. And now, I have to go out and find a coach who can get us back to the playoffs and hopefully championships."

Kraft says firing Mayo is one of the hardest things he's ever had to do in his life as he will now help lead a search for a new coach.
