WATCH: Aaron Rodgers fires football into MSG crowd during celebrity-filled Kill Tony show hours after Jets preseason game

Aaron Rodgers did not play in the New York Jets' preseason 20-17 win against the Washington Commanders on Saturday. However, he still threw passes to multiple people after watching the match from the sidelines.

The four-time MVP quarterback was a special guest on the Kill Tony Live Special at Madison Square Garden starring comedians Shane Gillis and Tony Hinchcliffe. At some point, he started throwing footballs into the audience, while the hosts looked on, confused at what he was doing.

Key performers in the Jets-Commanders game as Aaron Rodgers sits out

In Aaron Rodgers' stead, the Jets were led by Andrew Peasley (8/11 passes completed, one touchdown to Jason Brownlee) and Adrian Martinez (6/10 passes completed).

The Jets' other QB, Tyrod Taylor, completed just one of two passes but lost a yard. Israel Abanikanda rushed once for a touchdown, while Austin Seibert made the game-winning field goal with 21 seconds left.

Defensively, Leonard Taylor III was the only player on the team to register a sack. Chazz Surratt and Tanzel Smart had the most tackles with seven each (two and three solo, respectively).

None of the Commanders quarterbacks managed to find the end zone, but Jayden Daniels did rush for a touchdown, alongside running back Michael Wiley. Defensively, only Benning Potoa'e had a sack.

Head coach Robert Saleh detailed his future preseason plans for Rodgers as follows:

“You guys know me, the third game is usually when we like to play our guys and depending on how today went, how Saturday goes, and next week’s work with the Panthers and the following week with the Giants, I’ll make that decision.”

Elsewhere, at least one legend is not sold on the Jets' title hopes: former tight end Rob Gronkowski. Speaking on Friday's episode of "First Things First," Gronk said:

"I see the Jets having success and making the playoffs. I don’t really see a Super Bowl.”

However, the four-time Super Bowl champion did envision “him [Rodgers] dominating (in the season)" saying that he would certainly be "putting up touchdowns and having a great ratio of touchdowns to interceptions.”
