Despite either team's record, an AFC East showdown between the Buffalo Bills and New York Jets is always hard fought. It didn't take long for Sunday's Week 17 matchup between the two teams to get chippy.
Just about two minutes into the game, Buffalo was assessed a personal foul after the end of a play on offense. Buffalo's offensive guard Alec Anderson got into an altercation with New York's defensive end Will McDonald. The officials were able to stop it before it became too out of hand.
Offensive lineman Connor McGovern was penalized with a personal foul and it cost Buffalo's offense 15 yards on the drive. Several minutes later, Buffalo quarterback Josh Allen led his team down the field and scored a rushing touchdown for an early 7-0 lead.

Bills QB Josh Allen tied franchise record with rushing TD
Josh Allen has put himself into Buffalo Bills history forever. On Sunday afternoon, the 28-year-old quarterback rushed for his 65th career touchdown of his NFL career. That touchdown has him tied with former Bills running back Thurman Thomas for most touchdowns in franchise history.
Thomas did so in 1991, the same year he was crowned NFL MVP. The running back was an integral part of the Buffalo Bills playing in four consecutive Super Bowls.
Josh Allen has already passed four NFL running backs, all Hall of Famers on the career rushing touchdown list: Terrell Davis, Larry Csonka, O.J. Simpson and Lenny Moore. Cam Newton is the only other NFL quarterback to have rushed for more career touchdowns in his career, with 75 total.
Sunday's rushing touchdown was the 12th for the quarterback who could possibly be headed toward his NFL MVP honors. Buffalo won the AFC East division at the beginning of December and is poised to have the number two overall seed in the AFC with a 12-3 record, behind the Kansas City Chiefs.
Allen's teammates have already crowned their quarterback the "MVP" as they gifted him a custom, diamond chain for Christmas. The necklace featured a jersey with Josh Allen's #17 and the "MVP" encrusted at the top. A video of the quarterback walking around the team facility wearing the newly gifted chain on Christmas Day quickly circulated on social media.
