WATCH: Giants-Lions joint practice devolves into players throwing punches with Daniel Jones, Amon-Ra St. Brown involved

Amon-Ra St. Brown was involved in a fiery brawl during joint practice between the New York Giants and Detroit Lions on Monday. He and Giants defender Dru Phillips got into it after a rep. Training camp is in full swing, and that sometimes means some scuffles.

QB Jared Goff fired a pass down the field to St. Brown who made the catch on Phillips. The corner had been drapped over St. Brown in coverage and the wideout threw him off after the play was called.

Phillips didn't appreciate that and came back to punch the ball out of St. Brown's hands. The crowd erupted in a cheer of "Fight!" as St. Brown gave the cornerback a shove.

Several Giants teammates came in and got involved, with shoves being handed out freely. Check out the full play below.

Training camp often has fights. Teams fight within themselves as competition and emotions rise. Training camp in particular is often the first time some new teammates meet each other, and they are not always immediate friends.

When two teams practice together, that is even more true. These players aren't teammates at all, and they're competing against one another. That often leads to more fights, and the last few years have seen more than a few fights between teams in joint practices like this one.

Later on, Daniel Jones got into the action as well. After a handoff and a running play, Jones got into it with Lions defenders, shoving one to the ground and causing yet another scuffle.

It is unclear how that one started, as Jones was off-screen when the fighting initially began.

Amon-Ra St. Brown coming off major extension

Amon-Ra St. Brown is one of the most talented wide receivers in the league and a fierce competitor as evidenced by the above scuffle. With that in mind, the Detroit Lions wanted to ensure he's playing for their side for a long time.

Over the offseason, he signed a four-year extension for $120 million. In total, $77 million is guaranteed. This was, at the time, the highest-paid wide receiver contract in the NFL.

It has since been surpassed by Justin Jefferson, as he earned a four-year, $140 million deal from the Minnesota Vikings. St. Brown was extended at the same time that the Lions handed out a major extension to Pennei Sewell as well.
