On Sunday, Washington Commanders star Jayden Daniels made his postseason debut against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Raymond James Stadium. The rookie was hoping it'd go swimmingly, but it didn't take long for him to get his 'welcome to the playoffs' moment.
On the Commanders' opening drive, the quarterback tried to use his legs to move the chains, but Buccaneers star Zyon McCollum and his teammate managed to swarm the quarterback and prevent him from getting the 1st down.
However, the cornerback wasn't satisfied with stopping him short. He laid out a brutal and slightly late hit on Daniels, sending him flying out of bounds. The rookie landed straight on his face, which left him with a nasty cut on his cheek.

To his credit, the quarterback did not sulk or complain about the late hit. Instead, he bounced right back up, received treatment to curb the bleeding, and five plays later threw a dart to wide-open Dyami Brown to help the Commanders take the lead.
Jayden Daniels stats: QB shines in win for Commanders
Jayden Daniels continued to play well for the rest of the night in the hostile playoff environment in Tampa against an aggressive Buccaneers defense.
He showcased immense poise in the pocket, made massive plays, and did not shy away from using his legs to eat up yards despite McCollum's brutal hit. The rookie showcased that he's built for the biggest moments as he threw a touchdown pass in the fourth quarter to wide receiver Terry McLaurin on 4th-and-2 to help his team retake the lead.
After the Buccaneers' leveled the scores with a field goal, Daniels got the ball back with just under five minutes left on the clock to win the game. The Commanders' offense ran plays during the drive but trusted their quarterback to throw the ball only thrice, opting to keep the ball on the ground.
However, he came through each time, going 3-for-3 for 43 yards to help the visitors set up a 37-yard game-winning field goal attempt. Kicker Zane Gonzalez banked it off the upright to end the Commanders' 19-year wait for a playoff win.
Daniels finished the game with 268 passing yards, two passing touchdowns, and 36 rushing yards on 13 carries in a stellar playoff debut. He and his team will head to Ford Field next week to take on the Detroit Lions for a place in the NFC Championship Game.
