Jonathan Owens is playing for the Chicago Bears against the Minnesota Vikings on Monday and his wife Simone Biles is fieldside to cheer him on. Before the game began, ESPN's cameras caught the two embracing, kissing, and playing with each other:

In a recent interview with PEOPLE, she revealed more details about their pre-game routine:

“I just let him do him because I know how stressful that can be sometimes, but he loves to come see me because he usually has to stay at the team hotel, so he loves to come see me, kiss me goodbye.”

She also discussed her transformation from not knowing much about football to liking it very much and being able to converse with the rest of the Bears' WAGs community:

“My dad and my brothers were always watching football, but I was never into it. But I was always at the gym too, it's not like I even had time to get to know it... I've learned so much, and even some of his teammates' wives are like, ‘Oh my gosh, you've come so far, you've learned so much,’ because they've seen the journey."

Jonathan Owens, Simone Biles' Christmas plans explained

NFL players rarely get to truly enjoy Christmas since most of them will be busy practicing as their teams make playoff pushes. But for Jonathan Owens, whose team is no longer in contention, the festivities will be more enjoyable with his game not until the next day.

In that same interview, Simone Biles revealed:

“This will be the first Christmas that we'll spend alone together as a couple, which is actually really nice.”

House decorations have been mostly done, but they have one last thing to do:

“I've been begging Jonathan to go down in the basement and get the tree.”

In a separate interview with E!, she expounded on what celebrating Christmas meant for them. Usually, they have been flexible given his on-field commitments; but thatndoes not mean a lack of enjoyment:

“We don’t have set traditions because he’s either playing on the holiday, thenday after, or the day before. It's so much fun because it brings our family and friends together… I think it's just so special.”

As for Owens, Christmas games serve as a motivator for him - and he is grateful for such moments:

“It just puts a fire in Jonathan's heart because he wants to play well, and he knows that everybody sits around the living room and each of the families is watching this. He is so excited because that was one of his dreams to make it to the NFL and be playing on these holidays.”

The Bears host the Seahawks on December 26. Kickoff is at 7:15 PM CT on Amazon Prime.
