Caleb Williams signed his rookie contract with the Chicago Bears last month, just as preseason camp loomed. It is worth $39.4 million and like others, lasts four years, is fully guaranteed, and has a fifth-year option that must be invoked by Year 4.
But what makes this specific contract worth mentioning is the signing bonus given to him: $25.5 million. On Thursday, a clip from HBO's Hard Knocks surfaced of the 2024 first overall pick revealing that fact as the audience (mostly his teammates) cheers him on.
Meanwhile, sophomore backup Tyson Bagent can be seen "convulsing":

Williams is not playing tonight's Hall of Fame game between the Bears and Houston Texans in Canton, Ohio. Instead, Bagent has been under center, with three touchdown passes to his name - good enough for a 21-17 lead even as rain has forced a temporary cessation of play.
