Amir Riep and Jahsen Wint have spoken for the first time since they became free again.
In 2020, a 19-year-old woman accused the then-Ohio State Buckeyes of raping her. According to her, she and Riep first met on Snapchat, and it turned into a sexual encounter at the apartment he shared with Wint.
At some point, the alleged victim requested to stop, but Riep refused, and Wint joined in. The following week, the two men turned themselves in and were kicked off the team.
But in February 2023, Riep and Wint were acquitted of that charge, among others. And speaking on The Pivot Podcast, they shared their thoughts on the trial.

Reip said:
"We're not blind to it. So you hear the stories? You heard about going out of the way a lot of times to even if the person was telling the truth."
Wint said:
"Seeing it it's like okay, it's two black dudes and this is one white girl. So I can understand the narrative. Like it just felt like it was in a movie. We know the truth of what actually happened."
He continued:
"So we need to see the understanding, like what's being said in the story, and then people was gonna get the facts sooner or later. So they can see for themselves, and you don't have to take our word for it."
What were Amir Riep and Jahsen Wint's stats in Ohio State?
During their three years as Buckeyes, Amir Riep and Jahsen Wint established themselves as capable members of the secondary, having begun playing together in 2017.
Wint, who redshirted his freshman season, played safety. He peaked in his sophomore season, recording 26 tackles (5 solo).
Riep alternated between cornerback and secondary during his tenure, peaking in his junior season with 20 tackles (10 solo), two interceptions for 16 total return yards, and two defended passes.
While their case was ongoing, both Riep and Wint entered themselves into the transfer portal. But with over a year having passed since then, they are unlikely to play collegiately again. Their best bet now is the pros, whether it be the NFL, XFL, USFL, or even arena football.
