A recent statement from New England Patriots linebacker Jahlani Tavai appears to have angered the Patriots supporters. Tavai expressed his disappointment in the supporters' criticism of the team's coach, Jerod Mayo, and owner, Robert Kraft.
The player was asked about his thoughts, on the supporters chanting for the firing of HC Mayo, during an appearance on the Greg Hill Show on Friday. The athlete responded to this by supporting his coach.
"Everybody can say what they think we should be doing," Tavai said. "But in the long end, they're not qualified to do what Mayo is doing or whatever the Krafts are doing. They're fans, I appreciate them at times, but sometimes they just gotta know their place..."

The Patriots faithful took to Twitter expressing dissatisfaction with the player's comments.
"Of course these players love Mayo, most of them have only known old, bitter Bill, which is more difficult to digest when he’s not winning superbowls," a user wrote.
"Tavai in space is as bad as tavai on the radio. Belichick shined this bum up and saved his career. Mayo will end it. So glad the losers on the team love the losers running the team. Kraft got his team back and bottomed out 1 season later," a patriots fan wrote on X.
"He should have said media. The fans got the right to be upset they are buying the Jerseys and paying to go to the games. The media has had this man fired since week 3, the Thursday night game against the Jets, one said the staff was going on vacation like the players," another fan said.
Patriots hope to turn their fortunes around next season
For the New England Patriots, the 2024 season has been nothing short of disastrous. With a 3-13 record, they are at the bottom of AFC East. The supporters expressed their displeasure with 'Fire Mayo' chants during their recent 40-7 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers.
In his post-match interview after the loss against the Chargers. Coach Jerod Mayo has this to say:
"We just didn't play well enough in any phase of the game. No complimentary football and that's what you get."
After failing to qualify this season, Coach Mayo will look to end the season strong with a win while some fans will want their team to lose the last game in order to secure first overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft.
