San Jose State University football player Camdan McWright was struck by a bus while riding his scooter and died. He was 18 years old and a freshman at the university. He was reportedly just two blocks from campus when he was struck. The bus held about 15 students and no one on board was hurt in the accident.
In high school, McWright played football for St. Genevieve High in California. He was the team's captain in his junior and senior seasons. He was a two-time Camino Real League MVP and first-team all-league member.
No foul play is suspected as this was just a tragic accident.

SJSU player Camdan McWright dead after bus crash incident
SJSU football head coach Brent Brennan gave a statement to People magazine:
"We lost an amazing young man tragically this morning. Camdan had a bright future ahead of him and everyone in this community that had the opportunity to spend time with him knew that."
He continued:
"We are still trying to deal with the news of this tragedy, and appreciate everyone's support during these difficult times. Our thoughts and prayers are with the McWright family and I want them to know we are all here for them. Camdan will always be in our hearts and he will be profoundly missed."
University president Steve Perez also mourned the loss in a statement:
"The loss of our student is heartbreaking and devastating for our San José State community. We grieve for Camdan, his family, friends, teammates, and the Spartan family. We grieve together and will provide all of the support that Camdan's family, our students and our football program require to help move through this tragic time."
The SJSU football team's next game against New Mexico State for this Saturday is now up in the air.
