Chantel Mayo's pointed Instagram message signals growing tensions between her family and the New England Patriots organization. Her words challenge the mounting rumors surrounding her husband Jerod Mayo's sudden dismissal as their coach.
The drama centers around Jerod, who was fired after one season, and his wife Chantel. Their relationship with the organization soured following reports about Jerod's leadership style and controversial decisions during the 2024 season.
On Friday, Chantel took to her Instagram stories to address the swirling controversy. Her emotional post came just days after her husband's firing and the release of a critical Boston Herald report.
"It never even crossed our minds to tell the truth... But I couldn't even fathom all the lies we've read that are being told to save face. What happened to the class????? We've been taking the high road and letting everyone do their thing since Sunday. But playing with someone's name won't be tolerated," Chantel wrote.

The timing of her response aligns with published accounts of Jerod's tenure. The Boston Herald's Andrew Callahan and Doug Kyed released a detailed report on Thursday that painted an unflattering picture of his single season at the helm.
Jerod Mayo's wife claims the report is fake
Chantel Mayo's warning about revealing "real stories" follows reports of internal friction. One Patriots staffer claimed, according to the report, that Jerdo Mayo dismissed others' input.
"(He would) listen to the person give their answer and then say something to the effect of, 'Well, let me tell you why you're wrong,'" the staffer said.
The Patriots' season bottomed out in December. A 30-17 loss to Arizona on Dec. 15 raised eyebrows when Jerod reportedly played cards with players on the flight home instead of reviewing game film. Later, fans chanted "Fire Mayo!" during a 40-7 defeat against the Chargers at Gillette Stadium in Week 17.
Patriots owner Robert Kraft cited during Thursday's press conference that the team's regression was the primary reason for Mayo's firing.
"The high point of everything for me was the Cincinnati game, and then midseason I just think we started to regress," Kraft said.
With Mike Vrabel emerging as a leading candidate for the vacant position, this story seems far from over.
