What happened to Deebo Samuel?

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel was ruled out for the Week 8 game against the Los Angeles Rams this Sunday. The 49ers were hoping to get back on track after their two consecutive losses and succeeded in doing so with a 31-14 win over the Los Angeles Rams.

The 49ers are struggling with injuries. Players like WR Deebo Samuel (hamstring), LB Dre Greenlaw (calf), WR Jauan Jennings (hamstring), and FB Kyle Juszczyk (finger) did not participate in Week 8.

Deebo Samuel participated in their Week 7 game against the Kansas City Chiefs before leaving with a hamstring strain the following Monday. The good news is that Samuel does not have a torn hamstring, which would have kept him out of the game for a few weeks.

Samuel did not participate in any practice sessions last week and did not play in Sunday's game against the Rams. The 49ers have a 4-4 record this season and are ranked second in their division.

Since the 49ers now have their bye this week, it is not advisable to start Samuel in Week 9. He has only missed one game this season, so give your backups a chance to win fantasy points for you.

When will Deebo Samuel return?

We wouldn't recommend trading Deebo Samuel right now, since there's a good chance he'll be back following the 49ers' bye week. Head coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed as much on Friday in a press conference. The 49ers will face the Los Angeles Chargers on Monday, November 14th.

The wideout has started six of the seven games he's appeared in this season. He has 32 catches for 387 yards and has reached the endzone twice. Last season, he had 77 catches for 1,405 yards and six touchdowns on way to making the Pro Bowl.

His presence was certainly missed in their last game against the Rams. But the 49ers achieved a comfortable win and pushed their rivals into the third position in the NFC West. The addition of running back Christian McCaffrey certainly made up for Samuel's absence as coach Shanahan made plenty of use of the back against the Rams. McCaffrey recorded a rushing, receiving, and passing touchdown on the day.
