Mike Evans caught his 100th career receiving touchdown against the Baltimore Ravens for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday but disaster struck when he tried to reel in his 101st. The wide receiver nearly caught a perfect deep throw by Baker Mayfield into the endzone.
However, as he tangled with Ravens' Brandon Stephens, he could not complete the catch, landed hard on the turf, and immediately grabbed his hamstring.
Before the game, Mike Evans was already dealing with a hamstring injury and did not practice on Thursday and Friday, before being limited on Saturday. He was also seen limping after his first touchdown catch and it looks likely that he has re-aggravated the injury.

Evans was eventually ruled out for the game with Laura Rutledge reporting on broadcast that he was in so much pain that he could not put his boot on as they assisted him to the locker room.
Mike Evans' injury swings the game against Buccaneers versus Ravens
Mike Evans' injury had an immediate impact on how the game was progressing on Monday night. Had he caught the ball, which one assumes he could have if he was not feeling discomfort, the score would have been 17-7 in favor of the Buccaneers. Until then, Tampa Bay had dominated offensively.
But as he left the field, Baker Mayfield had to deal without his top receiver. And the immediate effect was exhibited with an interception in the endzone by Marlon Humphrey on a Bucs second-and-goal. That gave the ball back to the Ravens, who then took off on a long drive and got a touchdown to take a 14-10 lead. It was a 14-point swing and immediately changed the complexion of the game.
When the Buccaneers got the ball back in the next drive, Todd Bowles would have expected Baker Mayfield to try and get the lead before halftime. But without the star wide receiver, the quarterback had to throw more in coverage as the field was not getting as stretched when the wideout was there.
That led to his second interception of the night, again by Marlon Humphrey, and the Ravens entered the second-minute warning with the ball.
Knowing Mike Evans' importance to the team, Tampa Bay will be hoping that the wide receiver can come back quickly. The good news for the Buccaneers is that he has been a consistently reliable performer throughout his career and has not missed many games.
