The Baltimore Ravens signed Owen Wright to their practice squad last year after he went undrafted in the 2023 NFL Draft. Earlier this year, he signed a one-year, $795k deal with the Ravens and got the opportunity to play in the preseason.

Unfortunately, he has suffered a serious leg injury and will face a lengthy spell on the sidelines. As per Ravens insider Jeff Zrebiec, Wright has a hairline fracture in his foot and will require surgery. He wrote:

"Ravens RB Owen Wright has a hairline fracture in his foot, sustained in today's game. Expectation is he'll have surgery. It's not a season-ending injury. However, the Ravens will have a decision to make about his roster spot and whether they'll keep him eligible for return", wrote Jeff Zrebiec via X

Owen Wright played in all three preseason games for the Ravens this year, and here's how he performed in each of them:

Week 1: vs Eagles - Seven carries for 33 yards and one reception for 17 yards.

Week 2: vs Falcons - Eight carries for nine yards and one reception for six yards.

Week 3: vs Packers - Three carries for 10 yards.

Wright suffered the injury against the Packers and was carted off the field. Although it was unlikely he would make the final roster, this is still a big setback for the player who could have gotten an opportunity during the season.

With Owen Wright set to miss a significant time, here's how the Baltimore Ravens running back depth chart will likely look this year:

  • RB1: Derrick Henry
  • RB2: Justice Hill
  • RB3: Keaton Mitchell (Still on the PUP list)
  • RB4: Rasheen Ali

Derrick Henry signed a two-year, $16 million contract with the Ravens this offseason, and he will be their primary running back this season.

The AFC North team is coming off a loss in the AFC Championship Game, and it will be challenging for them to have similar success this year. They lost multiple key players on defense, including their defensive coordinator, Mike Macdonald, and the pressure will be on Lamar Jackson to carry the load on offense.

The Ravens will face the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 1, and it will be intriguing to see whether they will return to the run-dominant offense with Henry's inclusion.
