Jarryd Hayne, a former running back for the San Francisco 49ers, was convicted of rape in 2018.
Hayne was on trial for the third time on Tuesday. In December 2020, the first trial ended in a hung jury, while the second resulted in two sexual assault verdicts that were subsequently overruled on appeal in February.
His initial trial resulted in a hung jury, and a new trial was mandated. After a second trial, Hayne was deemed culpable on two charges of having sex without permission in March 2021.
According to the court, Hayne went to the lady's residence on September 30, 2018, and while his cab was waiting outside, he raped the victim despite her commands to "stop."

The court concluded that Hayne's "acts were forceful." According to the victim, "the size mismatch and the quickness with which the perpetrator assaulted her left her feeling overwhelmed." Before Jarryd Hayne came by the woman's residence, the court learned that the two had been talking on social media for two weeks.
Hayne affirmed in court that he thought the meeting was consensual. Speaking to the media within Sydney's Downing Center District Court, he vowed to challenge the rulings and became irate when asked if he felt any regret.
"Do you feel any regret, Jarryd?" a reporter questioned. Hayne answered, "For telling the truth?"
Hayne faced allegations of sexually abusing a woman in San Jose, California, while he was living there. Authorities, though, decided that there was insufficient proof to bring charges against Hayne, who refuted the claims. He did pay approximately $100,000 to resolve the woman's civil complaint.
The NRL is expected to consider taking Hayne's two Dally M Medals away. If that's the case, it would be the first time the NRL has stripped someone of their championship.
Which NFL team did Jarryd Hayne play for?
Jarryd Hayne had a distinguished rugby career before entering the NFL. He helped Australia capture the 2013 Rugby League World Cup and won the Player of the Year honors in the National Rugby League twice.
Hayne's unexpected decision to quit rugby league and go pro in the NFL in 2015 caught everyone off guard. The media heavily covered Hayne's move to the NFL, and he rapidly won over fans with his charm and tenacity. He had never played American football before, but his speed and agility made coaches take notice, and the San Francisco 49ers signed him as a running back.
Although Jarryd Hayne had moments of genius during his short tenure in the NFL, he eventually had trouble adjusting to the new rules and playing style. After being released by the 49ers in 2016, he briefly played for the Gold Coast Titans of the NRL and the Rugby Sevens team before ending his career in 2018.
