The NFL could be making changes to some of its protocols throughout the Combine process. As of right now, each athlete is measured for their height, weight, wing span and hand size. But the process of being measured by a human could soon be a thing of the past.
The National Football League is looking into body scanning technology that would allow athletes to step on a scanner, similar to those at airports. During the process, each athlete would be measured and would even be given a body mass index (BMI) score.
This would not only make each person more comfortable, but save a lot of time as well. The league has been doing research over the last two years as they constantly look for ways to improve the Combine process.

The HBCU Combine took place last week, and its accuracy proved to be on point. The National Football League will be doing another accuracy test in the near future, and if everything continues to move in a positive direction, then the body scan technology will be used for the 2024 NFL Combine.
In recent years, the NFL has also turned to telehealth resources to do pre-combine exams with athletes who have previous injuries. This limits the amount of physical examinations and imaging that may be required during the Combine process.
