Eric Johnson is a public figure with a seven-year NFL career playing for the San Francisco 49ers and New Orleans Saints.

Johnson had his college football experience at Yale, and he was one of the best players on the squad. Johnson's performances at college were decent for him to get picked at the tail end of the 2001 NFL draft, with the 49ers selecting him with the 224th overall pick.

Eric Johnson's NFL Career

Eric Johnson started his NFL career with the San Francisco 49ers, who took a chance at the tail end of that year's draft.

He acted as a TE2 during his first season with the 49ers and achieved a respectable stat line of 40 receptions, 362 receiving yards, and three touchdowns. Johnson's sophomore season could have been more productive, as the Yale University product battled with an array of injuries for the duration of the 2002 NFL season.

The rest of his career at San Francisco went on that way, with Johnson picking up form, only to get afflicted by injury as soon as he was about to break out. Following the 2006 season, Johnson left San Francisco and moved to New Orleans to become their starting tight end.

He played decently for the Saints, pulling off a stat line of 48 receptions, 378 passing yards and two touchdowns for good measure. That, though, didn't stop the Saints from releasing Johnson at the end of the season. The Saints gig proved to be his last in the National Football League, as he never played another snap on the gridiron again.

These days, Eric Johnson is more focused on being an amazing father and husband. He's married to movie star and singer Jessica Simpson, with whom he has three children. - Maxwell Drew Johnson, Ace Knute Johnson and Birdie Mae Johnson.

Johnson's wife and children matter to him, as he's regularly seen celebrating his young family. Eric Johnson might not have had the NFL success he would have hoped for, but his family life is seemingly going well.
