Cade Otton scored the game-winning touchdown pass from Tom Brady on Sunday. The touchdown was important for a lot of reasons. First, it broke the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' three-game losing streak and moved them back into first place in the NFC South.
Second, it was Otton's first career touchdown. After being selected in the fourth round of the previous NFL draft, the young tight end was expected to help alleviate the loss of Rob Gronkowski. However, he had yet to score entering Sunday. His game-winner over the Los Angeles Rams was huge for the team, but even bigger for himself.
The tight end lost his mother unexpectedly in September. He believes his mother was watching over him at the time, which helped him score a one-yard touchdown from Brady with nine seconds remaining.

After the game, he said:
"Yeah, you know obviously I miss my mom and think about her right away, but I know she'd be so proud of me. Just so happy to do this and that she got to watch me do it."
The win moved the Buccaneers to 4-5 on the year, a first step in returning to being the dominant team many thought they would be this season.
How did Cade Otton's mom Sally pass away?
The tight end spent several days away from the team in the offseason due to personal issues. It was later revealed that he was dealing with the unexpected loss of his mother.
Sally, who was 50 years old and had been a high school physical education teacher in Washington state, fought a lengthy battle with Parkinson's disease. She ultimately succumbed to the battle and her son wrote on Instagram:
“To the brightest person in the whole world, thank you for your endless love, encouragement and laughs. You always found the good in every situation, so I’ll try to do the same for you.”
On Sunday, Otton felt his late mother watching him as he scored his first NFL touchdown.
