Kansas City Chiefs running back Carson Steele has been the talk of football over the last couple of days. The running back capped it off with a 31-yard touchdown run, as no one could tackle him.

Steele is 21 years old and from Greenwood, Indiana, where he has had a pet alligator since he was in the first or second grade. He attended Center Grove High School in Greenwood and was named Mr. Football in Indiana after the 2020 season.

Steele committed to Ball State and in his freshman season, he rushed for 891 yards and six touchdowns. Steele then followed that up, rushing for 1,556 yards and 14 touchdowns on 289 carries.

After back-to-back solid years at Ball State, Steele entered the transfer portal and committed to UCLA. In his lone season with the Bruins, he rushed for 847 yards and six touchdowns on 167 carries.

Steele declared for the 2024 NFL draft but went undrafted. Steele was expected to be a priority undrafted free agent or a late seventh-round pick but ended up going undrafted.

After going undrafted, Steele signed with the Kansas City Chiefs. He is listed as the lone fullback on the Chiefs' depth chart, despite playing running back in college.

Will Carson Steele make the Kansas City Chiefs roster?

Carson Steele is considered a borderline player to make the Kansas City Chiefs 53-man roster.

Steele was considered a long shot early on in training camp, but he has impressed Chiefs coach Andy Reid due to his speed and his ability to play on special teams.

“We’ll evaluate him, but he looked good tonight. (He’s a) physical kid, and I know the guys were excited when he was carrying it, but we’ll see," Reid said after Thursday's preseason game (via ChiefsWire).
“He’s a good football player, though (it) didn’t look like they really wanted to tackle him. So that’s a plus if you’re a running back.
“If he (had) stayed at Ball State, he probably would have gone down as one of the great ones at the university there, but he transferred and ended up playing there at UCLA,” Reid added.
“And that’s saying something from an experienced standpoint with a bigger school, but we knew he could run the football. It was his ability to pass, protect, play special teams, and do those things, and he’s done a pretty good job

Steele is currently listed as the starting fullback for the Chiefs on their unofficial depth chart. But Kansas City's running back room is deep, which makes Steele's chances of making the roster difficult.

The Chiefs will have Isiah Pacheco as their starting running back, while Clyde Edwards-Helaire is the backup with Deneric Price, and Keaontay Ingram rounds out the running back room.

Kansas City will open its 2024 NFL season at home in the season opener against the Baltimore Ravens on Sept. 5.
