Green Bay's backup quarterback, Malik Willis, will likely start under center in the team's Week 3 clash against the Tennessee Titans at Nissan Stadium.

Earlier this week, reports claimed Jordan Love, who suffered an MCL sprain during the Packers' Week 1 loss against the Philadelphia Eagles, could return on Sunday.

However, the team isn't likely to risk aggravating their starting quarterback's injury. Further, Green Bay has reason to trust Willis.

The quarterback led the Packers to a 16-10 win over the Indianapolis Colts last Sunday. He completed 12 of 14 for 122 yards and one touchdown and rushed the ball six times for 41 yards.

While Willis should open against the Titans on Sunday, the Packers aren't ruling out the possibility of fielding Love.

When the veteran quarterback fell injured against the Eagles, rumors stated he suffered a season-ending knee injury. However, much to the Packers' relief, Love was diagnosed with an MCL sprain and is expected to return to action in three to six weeks.

During his media availability on Wednesday, the 25-year-old admitted fearing the worst when he collided with the Eagles' Jalen Carter and Josh Sweat.

“When it happened, it was one of those things, it was very scary, definitely not knowing what happened... I’ve never had an ACL or anything like that, so I didn’t know what that feels like. I didn’t know what that might be. A lot of thoughts went through my head, for sure."

Given his fortunate escape, the consensus was that the team would bide their time before clearing Love to return. However, according to the Packers' injury report, he practiced lightly throughout the week and is listed as questionable for the Titans game.

Love's status is likely a Green Bay tactic to throw off Tennessee's preparations.
